Health insurance for foreign nationals applying for a residence permit in Türkiye, matching the minimum coverage required by the Migration Office.
Foreign nationals who want to stay in Türkiye beyond their tourist visa must present valid health insurance when applying for a residence permit, as required under Law No. 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection. Residence permit health insurance is a private health policy designed to meet this requirement, following the minimum coverage structure accepted by the Presidency of Migration Management.
The coverage structure is standard across authorised insurers, so the difference usually lies in the price and the network of contracted hospitals. Comparing insurers is the easiest way to get the same coverage for less.
Those generally not required to buy this insurance include dual citizens who also hold Turkish citizenship and foreigners covered by the Turkish social security system (SGK). For foreigners married to a Turkish citizen, the Turkish spouse's SGK status is checked first; if the spouse has an active SGK record with no outstanding debt, the foreign spouse can usually be covered under it. If you are unsure, ask us and we will clarify before you apply.
The policy has two main parts. Treatment costs are covered within the limits and co-payment rates stated in the policy.
Current limits, co-payment rates and the list of contracted hospitals in your city vary by insurer. We send these to you in writing with your quote.
If you want wider protection, you can take out an optional private health policy alongside your residence insurance. We can help you decide which suits you.
For a first application, the policy start date should match your residence application date. For a renewal, your current permit's expiry date should be the new policy's start date. The policy term should also cover the permit period you request.
Date mismatches are one of the most common reasons applications are returned. If in doubt, we'll check with you before issuing the policy.
Yes. Valid health insurance is required for short-term residence permit applications and renewals. Dual citizens and foreigners covered by SGK are generally exempt.
Because coverage is standard, the price mainly depends on your age and the insurer you choose. The policy term also affects the price. We compare several insurers and send you the options.
The policy term should cover the residence period you apply for. If you want a 2-year permit, you need a 2-year policy. Many insurers can issue 2-year policies.
Yes, and it varies by insurer. Some do not accept applicants above a certain age or apply different terms. Tell us your age and we'll tell you which insurers can cover you.
Your spouse's SGK status is checked first. If your spouse has an active SGK record with no debt, you usually don't need separate insurance. If not, you will need residence health insurance.
Yes. A policy can be issued with your passport number, foreigner ID number or tax number — any one of them.
Yes, but the allowed range differs by insurer. We'll set the right start date for your application together.
Residence health insurance is a standard product required for the permit and cannot be extended. Private health insurance is optional, broader, and can be tailored with extra coverage.
No. The policy is valid only within Türkiye.
Yes, but a reason and supporting document are needed — for example, a letter from the Migration Office stating insurance is not required, an official document showing your permit was cancelled, or proof that you are now covered by SGK. We handle the cancellation and refund for you.
After your confirmation and payment, it is usually sent to your WhatsApp and email the same day.
No. We are an authorised insurance agency and only issue the health insurance your application needs. Only the Presidency of Migration Management can grant residence permits.
